Contrasting aspects of the physical and physiological dormancy shown by seeds from different peach rootstocks

Considering that cultivars of peach rootstocks selected to be propagated by seeds show variation in the degree physiological dormancy and peculiarities regarding limitation imposed endocarp, it is essential define cold stratification period ideal temperature used during pre-germination treatment. Isolated for each cultivar, knowledge these variables which will provide viability production via seeds, presence at a larger scale. Two germination tests were carried out, completely randomized experimental design 4 x 3 factorial scheme, with four replications, one consisting 25 endocarps. The first experiment was performed (Aldrighi, Capdebosq, Okinawa Roxo Tsukuba 1) three temperatures (1°C, 4°C 7°C) 90 days. For second experiment, same used, two (7°C ‘Aldrighi’ ‘Capdebosq’ ‘Okinawa Roxo’ ‘Tsukuba’) periods (40, 80 120 days), followed sowing substrate under greenhouse conditions 45 days, subsequent endocarp breaking re-sowing. treatment 7°C days sufficient obtain high percentage ‘Capdeboscq’ endocarp. Under tested, ‘Tsukuba 1’ require rupture reactivate germinative embryonic process.
